About Mike

Mike Toy is someone who just can’t sit around and do nothing. In fact, he wants a piece of every action. When Mike was just seven years old he announced to the world that he was going to become both an astronaut and the President of the United States one day.

Mike’s extensive background as a comedy magician and keynote presenter had him speaking for Fortune 500 companies. He has appeared on ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. Mike’s TEDx Talk is one of the most unique presentations people have ever seen (That’s what he said!). And one of his highlights was being invited to speak by The White House.

Mike graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2001 with a degree in human development. He picked that major because it was the easiest program available. Mike was able to get decent grades without doing a whole lot of work because for projects he recruited the smartest students to be in his group. He was the recipient of the UC Davis Community Service Award for his ground breaking method in helping low-achieving high school students reach their potential.

To make up for slacking academically in college, Mike graduated with a Masters in English from San Francisco State University in 2011. This tells you that he is cultured, can quote Shakespeare in his sleep, and is cool. His interest in helping people spiritually led him to taking courses at The Cornerstone Seminary and The Master’s University.

Determined to help people realize their dreams, Mike picked up business skills and knowledge. He’s a graduate of Seth Godin’s altMBA, where he grew fond of the term “ruckus-maker”. Mike’s interest in marketing led him through Donald Miller’s Storybrand certified guide program. One of his favorite books is Dale Carnegie’s classic “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, which led him to become one of their trainers.

He was born and raised in San Francisco. In his free time, he enjoys beach volleyball and Korean bbq galbi (short ribs). Mike loves traveling to Asia with his church to serve the underprivileged and orphans. His Chinese mom is praying he would find his wife soon.
